Elizabeth Macnish has never been published despite there being a plethora of writings cloistered away in her filing cabinets. Her christmas missives have been received with such success, laughter and tears over the years that she has been encouraged to write.
Like her mother and grandparents, Elizabeth was born in Tenterfield – a small country town of great historical significance in the northern highlands of New South Wales, Australia. It is a Federation town, more popularly called “the birthplace of the nation” as it was there that Sir Henry Parkes make his famous speech which launched federation in Australia.
It was also the birthplace of the very famous singer and entertainer Peter Allen, and of F.J. Thomas who defended Breaker Morant in a court martial during the Boer War, unsuccessfully unfortunately, and where the much loved Australian poet, Banjo Patterson, met and married his wife Alice Walker.
Her mother was a journalist, music teacher and had her own radio programme in Parkes, NSW during WWII. Her father was a member of the RAAF serving in South East Asia. After their marriage in 1949 they resided in Tenterfield and he fulfilled a life long ambition of becoming a grazier.
She has 2 brothers, John who is a retired school teacher, former deputy mayor and grazier in Tenterfield and Brian who is an attorney, working in finance and living in New York.
She has 2 nephews Andrew and James and a niece Lucinda who are absolutely adored.
She was educated at St. Joseph’s Convent, Tenterfield by the Sisters of St. Joseph which congregation was founded by Saint Mary MacKillop and completed her secondary education at the Convent of the Sacred Heart, Stuartholme, Brisbane. Thereafter she attended Queensland University attaining a law degree. During that time she briefly married.
She has practised as a solicitor for many years, having practices in Canberra, Brisbane and Melbourne. She has also worked at the Australian High Commission in London and the Australian Embassy in Paris.
Since her retirement from private practice she has pursued many interests, including becoming an interior decorator, marriage celebrant and stock market trader and has been instrumental in creating www.willfinders.com, a project still in its infancy.
She is also the Australian representative for Diamond Magic International and as an aside, distributes pure Rosehip Oil.
She is one of the two founding members of The EC Method (www.theecmethod.com) and Trend Star Alert (www.trendstaralert.com). Both businesses issue alerts for a high probability of a change in the direction of the stock market. The former sends alerts for both Australia (XJO) and USA (DOW) and the latter only deals with the USA.e
After living for 20 years in Melbourne she returned to Tenterfield to nurse both her parents until they passed away, firstly her mother and some 10 years later her father.
She currently spends much time in Honolulu and when in Australia resides with her cats in an historic 1891 italianate building which she is restoring to its original glory.
